DC plays spoiler against Dallas, picks up second win in a row

Just because DC Power FC is eliminated from playoff contention, doesn’t mean the team can’t still shake up the standings. The home team battled back for a miraculous come-from-behind win against Dallas Trinity FC on Thursday, earning consecutive wins for the first time this season.
Susanna Fitch and Loza Abera were the stars of the match, spearheading the comeback after DC went into a two-goal deficit before halftime. Abera entered as a second-half substitute and immediately cut the lead to one with a goal in the 54th minute. Less than 10 minutes later, Fitch got on the end of a rebound and equalized with her first goal of the year. The two scorers then combined in stoppage time, with Abera scoring the game-winner for DC’s second victory at Audi Field.
Thursday match was just the second time a team came back from a 2-0 deficit to win the game. The victors of the first occurrence? Dallas Trinity. Oh, how the tables have turned.

Carolina Ascent FC (13-5-7) Week 33: vs. TB |
![]() Last Week: 1 |
Although the current league leaders haven’t taken the pitch since last month, the Ascent is still the team to beat. Riding a six-match winning streak, Carolina has a chance to clinch not only hosting its first playoff match but clinching the Players/ Shield with a result this Saturday. |

Tampa Bay Sun FC (11-6-9) Week 33: @ CAR |
![]() Last Week: 3 |
The one team standing in Carolina’s way is Tampa Bay. The Sun has now won five of its last six matches and is in the best form we’ve seen all season. Tampa Bay has defeated Carolina the last two times they’ve met, so an upset is definitely still on the table. |

Spokane Zephyr FC (10-8-8) Week 33: @ DC |
![]() Last Week: 2 |
Despite looking a little flat to start the game on Saturday, Spokane battled back in the second half to earn a 2-2 draw against Brooklyn. Once again, Ally Cook played hero and scored the eqaulizer in stoppage time, bringing Zephyr one step closer to clinching a playoff berth. |

DC Power FC (5-12-7) Week 33: vs. SPK |
![]() Last Week: 4 |
It’s exciting to see DC still playing with fervor and tenacity, even without a playoff spot on the line. The team showed incredible grit and resilience to take down Dallas 3-2 last week and deserved all three points with that second-half performance. |

Brooklyn FC (10-9-8) Week 33: — |
![]() Last Week: 5 |
Saturday’s match was a tough result for Brooklyn, which looked like the better side for most of the night. One poor defensive decision and the inability to hold or extend the lead after going down a player might have cost the team its shot at the postseason. |

Fort Lauderdale United FC (9-8-7) Week 33: @ LEX |
![]() Last Week: 7 |
FTL UTD has picked up just three points in its last six matches, making its push to move above the playoff line even harder. Fortunately, the team had Week 32 off to regroup and focus on its final four matches, which need to all yield in points for FTL to move back to the top four. |

Dallas Trinity FC (11-8-7) Week 33: — |
![]() Last Week: 6 |
Dallas followed up its poor performance against Tampa Bay with an even more disappointing loss to DC Power last week. Trinity has now slipped out of the top two, temporarily losing the ability to host a playoff match if it was to clinch. With only two matches remaining, Dallas needs to turn things around and quickly. |
