
Rosters are continuing to take form as opening day of the Super League’s inaugural season approaches. In the past two weeks, seven clubs named several players to their teams. Here’s a closer look at recent Super Signings:
Tampa Bay Sun FC announced the signing of goalkeeper Kaylan Marckese this week. A native of St. Petersburg, FL, and a graduate of the University of Florida, Marckese began her professional career abroad for Selfoss of the Icelandic women’s football league. In 2021, she joined Danish side HB Køge competing and starting for the club in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. After joining Arsenal in 2022, she was loaned to Bristol City the following year. The American goalkeeper returns to the United States to debut for her hometown club in the inaugural season of the USL Super League.
Tampa Bay Sun also welcomed home American forward Sydny Nasello of Land O’ Lakes, Florida. Nasello will make her debut in the USL Super League following three spells abroad for Granadilla in the Spanish Liga F, Apollon Limassol Ladies in Cyprus and Faith Vatan Spor Kulübü in the Women’s Turkish Super League. In 2023-24, she registered four appearances and two goals in the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the Cypriot side.
Forward Sh’nia Gordon joins Fort Lauderdale United FC after spending two seasons with NWSL’s Racing Louisville FC. The Florida native brings extensive international experience to South Florida, having played for France’s FC Metz and Dijon FCO, as well as Russia’s PFC CSKA Moscow. Gordon spent her collegiate career at West Virginia University, where she was named to the NCAA College Cup All-Tournament Team and Big 12 All-Tournament Team.
Reese Klein was the second signee of the week for Fort Lauderdale. The 17-year-old defender and Fort Lauderdale native represented the U.S. Women’s Youth National Team, and she notably guided the U.S. U19 team to its first Pan American Games appearance since 2007. Klein is currently ranked No. 3 regionally and has committed to Clemson University.
Fort Lauderdale’s next signee of the week was local midfielder Taylor Smith. Smith made history as the first high schooler to join Fort Lauderdale’s inaugural season. The 16-year-old began playing for NSU University School’s varsity team in eighth grade and became a team captain in her freshman year, making school history by leading her team to the state championship for the first time. Smith holds multiple titles including Miami Herald’s Broward 4A-2A Girls Soccer Player of the Year, and she also holds the top spot in her district for points (81) while ranking fourth nationally in assists.
Dallas Trinity FC named Texas native Cyera Hintzen to its opening-day roster, joining the Super League after spending a season with NWSL’s Gotham FC. Hintzen has international experience, starting her professional career with Iceland’s Valur and spending a season with Australia’s Perth Glory. The University of Texas alumna earned herself countless titles during her collegiate career, including being named the first Longhorn to earn Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year honors. Through 72 games as a Longhorn, she tallied 27 goals, 18 assists, and 5,450 minutes played.
Forward Enzi Broussard was another signee for Dallas this week. The Lone Star State native is joining her hometown team after starting her professional career with Korea’s Changnyeong WFC. Broussard began her collegiate career with West Virginia University where she was named to the All-Big 12 Freshman Team and the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team. She continued her career with a single season at Washington State University where she recorded 12 starts, three goals, five assists, and 655 minutes.
Lucy Shepherd was also signed to Dallas. Hailing from the United Kingdom, Shepherd is coming to the Lone Star State after a stint with England’s Blackburn Rovers WFC. The forward played collegiately for Hofstra University in New York, where she made program history as the tenth all-time in career points (75) and sixth all-time in career assists (25). She began her professional career in her home country with the London City Lionesses.
DC Power FC announced Welsh international midfielder Charlie Estcourt to its inaugural league roster. Estcourt started her career at the Reading FC Academy before later joining the Chelsea Academy. She then split her career between Reading, Bristol, Charlton Athletic, London Bees, Coventry United and Birmingham City. Estcourt last played for Reading, which she rejoined in 2023. She has also recorded three goals in 40 caps with the Wales Women’s National Team.
Mariah Lee was welcomed as DC’s second player signed this week. Lee, a winger and forward, most recently played for Adelaide United in Australia’s A-League Women. This is a return for her to the U.S. following a collegiate career with Stanford University (2014-2017) where she scored five goals in 59 appearances and won an NCAA Championship before transferring to Wake Forest University in 2018, where she scored one goal in 13 appearances her senior year. Lee’s experience extends to FF Lugano 1976 in Switzerland, OL Reign of the NWSL, Scottish side Celtic and Sporting de Huelva in the Liga F.
Midfielder Abbey-Leigh Stringer was announced as the third signee for DC. Stringer brings to the Super League 11 years of professional experience in England, most recently playing for West Ham. A product of the Aston Villa Academy, she signed her first professional contract with Birmingham City. Stringer was loaned back to Villa and then returned to Birmingham City before joining Everton and lastly West Ham. She also appeared for various youth levels of the England National Team from U-17 to U-23 selections, making three appearances for England during their runner-up finish in the 2013 UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championship.
Midfielder Grace Ngock Yango joins the Power after a stint with France’s Guingamp Women, where she played 14 matches. The Cameroon native played for several international clubs in her 12-year career, including several German teams such as 1. FC Kattowitz and 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam. Yango has represented her country over 35 times, notably at the 2019 FIFA World Cup.
Centerback Claire Constant is another addition to the Power, who joins after beginning her professional career with Portugal’s S.C.U. Torreense. Constant earned herself a spot with the Haitian National Team and notably helped lead the Haitian National Team to its first World Cup appearance ever in 2023. Throughout her collegiate career, the University of Virginia alumna tallied 72 starts, 8 goals, and 7,067 minutes.
Australian goalkeeper Morgan Aquino joins the Power after spending three seasons with Perth Glory. Aquino briefly left Glory to spend a season with Brisbane Roar, where she made three appearances. After her return to Perth in 2023, she recorded an 81.1% save percentage and a league-high 126 saves through 22 appearances and earned the title of A-League Goalkeeper of the Year. She has represented her country at the U16, U19, and U23 levels.
Power FC added two more defenders in Amber Diorio and Susanna Friedrichs, both standouts at Virginia Commonwealth University. Diorio played five seasons at VCU before spending the last year with Liga MX side Pumas UNAM. Friedrichs played four seasons at VCU and has played professionally in Italy, Iceland and Czechia.
Alex Kirnos and Katrina Guillou are two additions to Power FC’s midfield that were announced this week. Kirnos is coming from Radford University where she recorded 86 matches played, 74 starts, 17 goals, 21 assists and 5,906 minutes played. Guillou spent four seasons at UNC Wilmington before starting her professional career in Finland with Oulu Nice. Guillou has made multiple appearances with the Philippines Women’s National Team, most recently at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Lastly, Power FC added Myra Konte to the roster this week. Konte, a defender from Woodbridge, VA, had an impressive career at Vanderbilt University, earning multiple honors and becoming Vanderbilt’s first NWSL draftee in program history, selected in the third round of the 2021 NWSL Draft by the North Carolina Courage.
Brooklyn FC announced the signing of midfielder Hope Breslin. The New York native is coming home after spending a season with Wellington Phoenix FC, where she made 22 appearances. Breslin spent her collegiate career at the University of Illinois where she was a four-time Academic All-B1G recipient, recording 72 starts, 18 goals, 9 assists, and 5,345 minutes played through 76 games.
Defender Leah Scarpelli was also signed to Brooklyn FC’s inaugural roster. A native of New Jersey, Scarpelli returns to the tri-state area from international experiences at Sporting Lisbon in Portugal and most recently at Brisbane Roar in Australia. In the States, she competed in college for Pennsylvania State University and Florida Gulf Coast University, and she was also called up to the U17 United States youth national team in 2017.
Carolina Ascent FC kicked off its announcements with the addition of Carolinian defenders Renée Guion and Josie Studer. Guion is returning home after spending two seasons with Denmark’s Fortuna Hjørring, where she scored four goals and clocked 1,514 minutes through 21 appearances. She spent her collegiate career as a team captain at Clemson University, where she twice recorded a quad of assists, the most in a match in program history. Guion began her professional career with Lithuania’s FC Gintra, where she helped win the Lithuanian A-League.
After spending her collegiate career at Lousiana Tech, Studor is returning to the Carolinas on her first professional contract. In her five-year tenure as Bulldog, she made program history with the most starts (73) and second-most minutes played (6,678). She earned extensive titles such as 2023 Conference USA Preseason Defender of the Year, and All-Conference USA honors every year she played.
Midfielder Sarah Troccoli is joining the Ascent after spending three seasons as a team captain for Finland’s Åland United. During her time in Finland’s premier division, she won two Finnish Cups and three league bronze medals, played 3,744 minutes, and scored 12 goals through 48 matches. She spent her collegiate career at the University of Florida, where she co-captained her final year and guided the Gators to two SEC Tournament championships and an SEC Regular Season title.
Forward Audrey Harding is another addition to the Carolina Ascent. Harding brings international experience to the league, having played for Sweden’s premiere division OBOS Damallsvenskan with KIF Örebro DFF. She spent her collegiate career at UNC Wilmington, where she made program history by being one of three players to hit 20 career goals and 20 career assists. Harding began her professional career with the Washington Spirit as the 38th pick in the 2021 NWSL Draft.
The Ascent is also welcoming Molly Vapensky on a USL Academy contract for the 2024/25 season. The goalkeeper has been with the U.S. Youth National Teams since the U15 level and helped the team clinch a spot in the 2024 U17 FIFA World Cup with their 2024 CONCACAF U17 Championship win. Most recently, Vapensky played for the USL W League with Chicago City SC.
Midfielder Kathrynn González was also signed to the Ascent. The Pennsylvania native is bringing international experience to the Super League, having played professionally for Denmark’s FC Thy-Thisted Q and the Dominican Republic Women’s National Team. She scored three goals in four matches, as well as a game-winning goal against Guyana to send the Dominican Republic to the inaugural CONCACAF W Gold Cup. González spent her collegiate career at Marshall University, where she led the Sun Belt Conference in shots (68) and shots per game (3.58) in her final season.
Defender Annika Creel was the Ascent’s final signee of the week. Creel joins the Super League after a stint with Indy Eleven, where she helped win the 2023 USL W League Championship title. Creel began her collegiate career with a season at the University of Connecticut, where she made an appearance with the Huskies in the NCAA Tournament. She furthered her collegiate career at Butler University, where she tallied five goals, two assists, 31 clean sheets, and 53 starts through 55 games. Creel has international experience, having played for Sweden’s Göteborg FC and Sunnanå SK before heading to NJ/NY Gotham for a season.
Lexington Sporting Club announced Bridgette Skiba and Hannah Richardson as a double signing from Danish club HB Køge. Skiba, a goalkeeper, played collegiately 66 games for Oregon State and competed for the Chicago Red Starts of the NWSL prior to her move to Denmark. Richardson, a forward, is a graduate of the University of Kentucky where she recorded 22 goals and 14 assists in 62 matches as a Wildcat.
Lexington announced on Friday the additions of Shea Moyer and NaYeong Shin to the roster. Moyer, who is originally from Pennsylvania, played collegiately at Penn State and has professional experience for clubs in Iceland and Turkiye. NaYeong has suited up for the U17, U19, and U20 South Korea Women’s National Teams, and she is joining Lexington after four years in the K League, the top flight of women’s soccer in South Korea.
Lexington also announced the signing of Madison Perez. Coming off 58 appearances at Cal State Long Beach Women’s Soccer where she led her collegiate team in minutes in her three seasons from 2021-2023, the 2021 Big West Freshman of the Year brings consistency and competition to Lexington’s backline. Perez also has youth national team experience, receiving call-ups to the U.S. youth national team U16-U20 selections.
Lexington also introduced the signing of Kailey Utley. The forward from St. Louis, Missouri played for the Sporting’s own USL W League team for the past 2 seasons and spent her collegiate career at West Virginia counting 17 goals and 11 assists in 45 appearances. Utley’s experience also extends to the WPSL, having played for Fire & Ice SC and Pacific Northwest SC.
Trinity Watson was another signing of the week for Lexington. Also from California, Watson played as a defender and forward for Pepperdine University totaling 14 goals and 16 assists in 86 appearances. In the United States, she played for the 2023 USL W League champions Indy Eleven and was also a member of the U14 and U17 U.S. Girls’ national team from 2013-16. Like the new Tampa Bay signee Sydny Nasello, Watson joins the Super League from Cypriot club Apollon Limassol Ladies.
Lexington continued to be very active in Super League Signings last week, also announcing goalkeeper Sarah Cox. A former player of women’s college soccer at Stanford University, Cox went on to play for Miss Kick FC and Fresno Freeze FC in the WPSL. She is the third Californian joining the club this week.
Autumn Weeks was welcomed to Lexington, coming up from the organization’s USL W League team. The defender joined LSC after playing two years with Valley Division rival Racing Louisville FC. She also played in the WPSL for the Chicago Red Star reserves contributing to a Lake Michigan Conference Championship. Prior to amateur and professional soccer, she played collegiate soccer at IU Indy and the University of Louisville.
