Things to Know
- Saturday marks the first ever USL Super League match in league history. The Super League was announced in September 2021, and it received Division One sanctioning in February of this year.
- Carolina Ascent FC is a Charlotte-based team led by head coach Philip Poole. The club is the first women’s professional sports team to call Charlotte home since the Charlotte Sting, one of the eight original WNBA franchises that began play in 1997. Learn more about the club here.
- DC Power FC is the newest professional women’s soccer team headquartered in the nation’s capital. The club flaunts an exciting ownership group including DMV star athletes such as WNBA’s Angel Reese, MLB pitcher Josiah Gray and NHL player Hendrix Lapierre. Learn more about the club here.

CAR – Vicky Bruce: North Carolina native Vicky Bruce was the first player signing for Carolina Ascent. The defender is bringing championship experience to the squad, as she won a NCAA Championship with UNC and won league titles with English club Bristol City and Danish side Fortuna Hjørring.
DC – Claire Constant: Center back Claire Constant joins Power FC after completing her first professional season with S.C.U. Torreense in Portugal. Constant scored eight goals in 108 appearances at the University of Virginia and has earned six caps with the Haitian women’s national team, helping them qualify for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Things to Know
- Spokane Zephyr FC is the newest professional women’s soccer team in the Pacific Northwest. Zephyr means “a wind from the west,” and the team’s crest is designed to reflect the movement of wind and to evoke the power of change, as the wind does to landscapes over time. - Fort Lauderdale United FC is the only professional women’s soccer team in the South Florida region. Tyrone Mears, a former Premier League defender, was announced as the club’s first head coach. Learn more about the club here.
Players to Watch
SPK – Sophia Braun: Braun comes to Spokane Zephyr FC with a decorated career, including multiple All-Conference First Teams with Gonzaga University, and 29 appearances for the Argentinian national team. Her biggest game for Argentina came in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup against South Africa, where she scored the country’s first goal of the tournament. She also has experience with Mexican club León Femenil, playing in 18 matches.
FTL – Sh’Nia Gordon: Up top for Fort Lauderdale will be striker Sh’Nia Gordon. The Florida native started in all 95 matches played while at West Virginia University and recorded 25 goals and 15 assists. Gordon has played for various French professional clubs, most notably Dijon FCO, where she scored seven goals in 22 appearances.

Things to Know
- Tampa Bay Sun FC announced it would join the Super League in May 2023 and would become the highest level of women’s professional sports to ever play in Tampa Bay. The club is spearheaded by President Christina Unkel and head coach Denise Schilte-Brown. Learn more about the club here.
- Dallas Trinity FC is bringing professional women’s soccer to a city with a rich history surrounding girls’ soccer. In 1973, the Dallas Sting became the first all-girls soccer club in the United States, and the Dallas Cup, founded in 1980, is one of the most prestigious youth soccer tournaments in the country. Players to Watch
TB – Erika Tymrak: Erika Tymrak will bring a veteran presence to Tampa Bay Sun’s midfield this season. Tymrak appeared in over 170 NWSL matches, netted 21 goals and was named 2013 NWSL Rookie of the Year. After years of experience on U.S. youth national teams, she earned her first senior call up in 2013. She also had a phenomenal career at the University of Florida, where she recorded 95 appearances and 32 goals.
DAL – Haley Berg: Midfielder Haley Berg will be returning to her hometown after spending the last three years playing professionally overseas. Berg also has ties to Texas after playing four seasons at the University of Texas at Austin. She scored 24 goals in 73 appearances and earned multiple honors such as Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Year (2017) and Big 12 Championship All-Tournament Team (2018).
