
TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Super League announced on Sunday its Golden Awards for the 2024/25 regular season, honoring Dallas Trinity’s Allie Thornton as the Golden Boot winner, Carolina Ascent’s Meagan McClelland as the Golden Glove winner, and Carolina Ascent’s Jill Aguilera as the Golden Playmaker winner as the league’s three individual statistical award honorees.
Thornton earned the inaugural Golden Boot after scoring 13 goals in 27 appearances for Dallas. The Arlington, TX, native became the first Super League player to record a hat trick in the 6-2 win against Lexington SC on September 13, and she was also the first to reach double-digit goals on the season in a 1-1 draw against Fort Lauderdale United FC on April 19. Thornton accounted for nearly a third of Dallas’ 42 goals, while also contributing three assists.
McClelland earned the inaugural Golden Glove after posting a goal-against average of 0.97 through 18 appearances for the Ascent. The Rutgers alum recorded a 70.2% save percentage and finished the season with 41 saves and six clean sheets.
Aguilera earned the inaugural Golden Playmaker award after recording seven assists in Carolina’s historic first season, finishing as the No. 1 seed. The Puerto Rican international also recorded two goals to contribute to nine of Carolina’s league-high 45 goals on the season.
All three players are set to feature in the upcoming 2024/25 USL Super League Playoffs, which kick off this weekend with both semifinal matches. Full details of the bracket, schedule and tickets can be found here.
The 2024/25 USL Super League Golden Boot, Golden Glove and Golden Playmaker are the opening three awards that will be presented by the league this year. The Super League’s Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Defender of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, and the USL Super League All-League Teams will be announced later this month.
