TB – Jordan Zade: The outside back made a splash with her flip throw-in during her pro debut last weekend with the Sun. Zade played all 90 minutes for the Sun and tallied a pair of tackles and interceptions to get the team back in the match to earn the draw.

Florida Derby opens Spring Schedule with 2-2 draw
Tampa Bay Sun FC and Fort Lauderdale United FC split points for the second time this season after a goal-filled second half resulted in a 2-2 draw. Jasmine Hamid and Sh’Nia Gordon put the visitors up 2-0 before Tampa Bay converted twice from the spot to get back in the match.
Saturday marked only the third time this season that two penalty kicks were taken in a single match, and it was the second time one team took two penalties in a single match. Carlee Giammona joined Jess Garziano, Madison Wolfbauer and Emina Ekić as the only players to score two penalties this season.
Neither team is likely too pleased with the result; FTL lost a multiple-goal lead with 20 minutes left in the match, and Tampa Bay missed multiple chances in front of goal in the first half. It was only the second time this season Fort Lauderdale dropped points from a winning position, and the Sun hasn’t recorded a clean sheet in its last eight matches. Both sides will have weakness to work on before their next meeting in March to determine which Florida team will have bragging rights.

![]() Last Week: 1 |
Brooklyn looks to continue its momentum from the fall as it heads into the second half of the season. Sitting six points ahead on top of the table, Brooklyn is on a six-match winning streak and has recorded four consecutive clean sheets, displaying dominance that it hopes to bring into three straight road matches to start the spring. |
2 | ![]() |
Fort Lauderdale United FC (6-5-3) Week 21: vs. LEX |
![]() Last Week: 2 |
It took FTL some time to find its footing in the match last Saturday, but the team looked strong once it maintained some possession and got its wingers more involved. Gordon earned her first goal of the season, and it would have been the game-winner if not for two unfortunate fouls in the box. |
3 | ![]() |
Dallas Trinity FC (6-3-5) Week 20: vs. TB |
![]() Last Week: 3 |
Dallas looks to bounce back from its last loss to Brooklyn and try to close the gap between the two clubs this weekend. The team will rely on its leading scorer Allie Thornton and its newest midfielder Lexi Missimo to bring some offensive firepower to the group on Saturday. |
4 | ![]() |
Tampa Bay Sun FC (5-4-5) Week 20: @ DAL |
![]() Last Week: 4 |
On the other side of the Florida Derby was Tampa Bay Sun, which came back from a two-goal deficit to prevent an opening home loss to start the spring. Despite finding a way to earn a point, the team continues to struggle on both ends of the field and makes things harder for itself by having to climb out of holes to earn results. |
5 | ![]() |
Lexington SC (3-8-3) Week 20: @ CAR |
![]() Last Week: 5 |
Lexington closed out the fall with a dominant 3-0 win over DC Power to end a streak of unfavorable results. The Girls in Green kick off the spring against Carolina Ascent, which it has drawn twice against. With plenty of offseason signings now in the mix, Lexington could look extremely different on Saturday. |
6 | ![]() |
Carolina Ascent FC (5-3-6) Week 20: vs. LEX |
![]() Last Week: 6 |
Carolina is desperately holding on to a spot in the top half of the standings, currently in fourth place by one point. Its home match against Lexington will show how the team used the winter break and if its newest signings of Jenna Butler and Riley Parker will bring offensive and defensive boosts to the group. |
7 | ![]() |
Spokane Zephyr FC (2-6-6) Week 21: @ DAL |
![]() Last Week: 7 |
Spokane dropped to the bottom of the standings after falling 3-2 to Tampa Bay Sun in the Fall Finale. The spring will see a more balanced home-away schedule for Zephyr, allowing the team to have more consistency and hopefully see more matches going in the win column. |
8 | ![]() |
DC Power FC (3-7-4) Week 21: @ CAR |
![]() Last Week: 8 |
Power FC is in a transitional period after hiring a new sporting director and with interim coach Phil Nana at the helm. The last time the team hosted Spokane, it nearly came away with all three points before an own goal resulted in a draw. This Saturday is an opportunity for DC to kick off the spring on a high note. |

FTL – Kiara Pralle: Pralle scored a brace in Fort Lauderdale’s last game, only her second match played since signing for the team back in mid-December. She has fit in well with the starting lineup and will look to continue this momentum heading into this second part of the season.

Firsts: The win marked Lexington’s first home victory and first shutout of the season.
QUOTES:
Lexington goal scorer Hannah Richardson:
On scoring her first two professional goals… “It’s surreal. I’ve just been through a lot in my past two years with my professional career. First of all, a season ending injury before I started my career, and then just being able to come back to the states from playing overseas, and then just finishing off this year with two goals, it’s been surreal. I’m just really thankful.”
Lexington Head Coach Mike Dickey:
On the team recording its first home win… “We’re so stinkin’ happy because it’s a win in our own place, it’s a shutout, we haven’t been able to do that, so that’s awesome. Defensively, we were really good. We scored goals. What we worked on this week in training and what we’ve worked on all season showed in today’s game. It’s just a really big positive, especially going into our last game of 2024 and then having a break for several weeks and going into the second half of the season. I’m really happy for our club, really happy for our players and coaching staff, they have been doing a really good job.”
GOALS:
Isabel Cox (BKN) 77’, Sam Kroeger assist.
STORYLINES:
Sixth Win: Brooklyn recorded its league-leading sixth-consecutive win to extend its first-place lead in the standings.
Snapped the Streak: Brooklyn became the first visiting team to defeat Dallas Trinity at the Cotton Bowl this season. Trinity was previously 3-0-3 at home.
Clean Sheet: Brooklyn recorded its fourth-consecutive shutout this season. It has outscored its opponents 8-0 in the last four matches.
QUOTES:
Brooklyn goal scorer Isabel Cox:
On scoring the game-winning goal… “Our objective the whole game was to get three points. Even when I came in later on in the game, we were playing to win. I came on and just wanted to be a difference-maker. Our team was playing hard the whole game, and we definitely deserved that goal, so I’m just happy I could help put my team ahead.”
On the first half of the season… “Our locker room has been so positive and confident this whole fall. We are a tight-knit group and have so much belief within the team. We’re definitely happy to have a bit of time off, but it makes it even better that we can end the fall on a high and in first place.”
Dallas Trinity Head Coach Pauline MacDonald:
On the final match of the Fall Schedule… “I’m extremely proud of the manner that we played the game in, the way that we dominated the ball, and competed. It was significantly different from the first time that we played them on the road in Brooklyn. I’m disappointed for the players; however, this is only game 14. We were obviously late in getting here as a technical staff, and I think the buy-in from the players has been exceptional since then.”
Dallas Trinity captain Amber Brooks:
On the team’s effort… “I think it shows that when we show up and consistently compete, we can be the best team on the field every game. Unfortunately, on nights like tonight, that doesn’t always mean you get the three points, but we’re certainly happy with where we stand heading into the halfway point of the season. You always want to win, especially at home to keep that streak alive. The important thing is that we’ve taken really important steps heading into the break and hopefully we all get some good rest, get healthy, keep pushing, and get better for the spring.”
GOALS:
Carlee Giammona (TB) 15’.
Haley Thomas (SPK) 22’, Emina Ekić assist.
Julianne Vallerand (SPK) 52’, Emina Ekić assist.
Natasha Flint (TB) 66’, Cecilie Nielsen assist.
Natasha Flint (TB) 69’, Jade Moore assist.
STORYLINES:
3-2 Scoreline: This was the fourth match this season to end with a 3-2 scoreline. Tampa Bay is the first home team to win a match ending 3-2 and previously beat Lexington 3-2 on the road.
First Brace: Natasha Flint recorded her first brace for the Sun, and it was the team’s third brace of the season.
First Goal: Julianne Vallerand recorded her first goal of the season.
FIirst Assist: Jade Moore and Cecilie Nielsen both recorded their first assists of the season.
Double Assists: Emina Ekić recorded her team-leading third and fourth assists of the season. She is just the fifth player to record two assists in a single match.
QUOTES:
Tampa Bay Sun Head Coach Denise Schilte-Brown:
On the team’s effort… “This was an incredible display of character and resilience from our team. We faced challenges, but we never doubted ourselves and found a way to win. I’m incredibly proud of every single player.”
Spokane Zephyr defender Haley Thomas:
On the result… “It wasn’t the way we wanted to end the fall season, and I think we could’ve got the win tonight. We’ll take these next few weeks to rest, work on the things we need to improve and come back stronger in the spring.”
GOALS:
Kiara Pralle (FTL) 54’.
Kiara Pralle (FTL) 82’, Sabrina McNeill assist.

Three in a Row: Fort Lauderdale earned its third consecutive win, the second time this season the team has gone on a three-match winning streak. On the other end, Carolina recorded its third consecutive loss.
Clean Sheet: Cosette Morche recorded her second clean sheet of the season.
QUOTES:
Fort Lauderdale goal scorer Kiara Pralle:
On her experience since joining the team… “There’s a couple players in the locker room who’ve come alongside me and just been so kind and welcoming. It’s a competitive environment. It’s easy to step on toes, but honestly, the girls have been so welcoming, and I’m just super excited to be in an environment where it is so competitive each and every day in training. But off the field, like just being a family and a sisterhood, which is just awesome.”
Carolina Ascent Head Coach Philip Poole:
On the overall performance… “I don’t think we were very good tonight. We really struggled in possession tonight. Struggling in possession against a team that has power and pace to get their wide players on the ball is always going to ask questions. Tonight we struggled with the ball, and we weren’t good enough without the ball. It’s a pretty simple formula.”

USWNT FUTURES CAMP
Brooklyn’s Neeku Purcell and Dallas Trinity’s Lexi Missimo were named by U.S. Women’s National Team Head Coach Emma Hayes to the 24-player roster for the 2025 Futures Camp featuring up-and-coming USWNT prospects.
MORE THAN BRAGGING RIGHTS AT STAKE
The second Florida Derby will launch the Spring Schedule, setting the stage for a fierce rematch between the two teams separated by just 260 miles. The first encounter ended in a 1-1 draw with FTL UTD finding the equalizer in the 90+3’.
However, with this being the only match up for this opening weekend, if a team was to claim all three points, that team would leapfrog over Carolina Ascent into third place in the standings.
WILL THESE STREAKS CONTINUE?
FTL UTD’s Final Finale victory over Carolina was the team’s third W in a row – marking the second time this season that the club has tallied three consecutive wins.
On the flip side, their opponent, Carolina Ascent FC, was handed their third loss in a row – marking the first time ever the club fumbled three consecutive times.
Finally, the most impressive streak is undoubtedly Brooklyn FC’s sixth consecutive win. Brooklyn managed to find its groove and their victory over Dallas in the Fall Finale marked the club’s sixth consecutive win. Will Brooklyn continue this historic streak?
WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE SPRING
As the Spring Schedule kicks off, we broke down what to expect from all eight clubs. Read each one below:

Tampa Bay Sun FC will host the first match of the second half of the 2024/25 USL Super League season against Fort Lauderdale United FC. Here’s what we can expect to see out of the Sun in the spring:
Tampa Bay is coming off a huge comeback win over Spokane to end the fall and have an opportunity to jump to third in the standings with a win over Fort Lauderdale as the sides make up the postponed contest between the sides from last October. In the first Florida Derby, Tampa Bay nearly earned the win before a late equalizer from FTL split the points in South Florida. If the Sun can jump out to a hot start on their home turf and take advantage of the match in hand it has, it could kickstart a successful second half of the season.
Tampa Bay’s attacking trio of Carlee Giammona, Cecile Nielsen and Natasha Flint looked more confident in the last few matches of the fall. The three combined for 13 goals on 59 shots, contributing to two huge wins in the Sun’s last three matches. The trio might only be rivaled by Brooklyn’s front line in terms of potential production. That makes Giammona, Nielsen and Flint and their rising chemistry key to the team’s success this spring.
Natalia Staude and Lauren Kozal completed their loans in December, leaving the Sun along with Riley Parker and Jasmine Abundis. However, Parker Goins and Jordan Zade were signed to the club from Racing Louisville FC and the University of Nebraska, respectively. Tampa Bay has one of the deepest rosters in the league, and Head Coach Denise Schilte-Brown will likely switch up the starting lineups with the variety of talent she has at her disposal.
Tampa, FL. – Tampa Bay Sun FC announced on Wednesday the club had signed forward Parker Goins for the remainder of the 2024/25 USL Super League season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
Goins joins the Sun having most recently competed for Racing Louisville FC in the NWSL, where she made 36 appearances from 2022-2024. The 26-year-old scored her first professional goal on May 12, 2023, against the Chicago Red Stars.
Goins spent five standout seasons with the Arkansas Razorbacks, where she totaled 40 goals and 38 assists in 96 appearances. She was named SEC Midfielder of the Year (2021), United Soccer Coaches All-American Third Team (2021) and First Team All-SEC (2019, ’20, ’21). En route to Arkansas’ 2021 SEC regular season championship, Goins ranked No. 2 in assists (14) and No. 4 in goals (11) in the conference.
