Led by the Oakland Roots and Oakland Soul ownership group, USL Super League Oakland will embody the club’s mission-led focus to harness the power of sport as a force for social good by extending its women’s pathway into the professional ranks, as soon as the club has a venue to accommodate two professional teams. The ownership group recently submitted a proposal for an interim stadium in East Oakland on the Malibu site to the city, Alameda County, and the Joint Powers Authority (JPA).
“We are thrilled to be a part of the growth of women’s soccer in this country and look forward to the opportunity for our community to have professional women’s soccer in Oakland. We will continue to push our stadium efforts forward with the City of Oakland and County of Alameda as this effort cannot happen without a stadium in Oakland of our own.”
