
As fans are being introduced to the faces of their new favorite clubs, anticipation grows for the opening day of the inaugural Super League season. In the past week, six teams have named 18 players to their rosters. Here’s a closer look at this week’s Super Signings:
Lexington SC announced Grace Wisnewski as its first club signing earlier this week. A national of New Zealand, Wisnewski scored three goals during the 2018 U-17 Women’s World Cup to help her home country take home bronze. The midfielder is heading to the US after playing two seasons with Wellington Phoenix from the Australian A-League.
Lexington also signed college graduate Marykate McGuire to its inaugural roster. A native of Portsmuth, Rhode Island, McGuire joins Lexington following five years of NCAA soccer, recording 19 goals and 16 assists in 80 matches at Duke, and recording seven goals and four assists in her last season at Ole Miss. She also brings youth national team experience, having been invited to the U14, U16 and U18 United States squad training camps.
Elysia Laramie was welcomed by Lexington as the third signing of the week for the club. Born in Simi Valley, California, Laramie has played as a forward and center back and spent six seasons at California State Long Beach, registering 17 goals and nine assists in 79 appearances. She is the third Lexington signee of the week with youth national team experience, having received an invitation to a U18 USWNT training camp in 2018.
Kimberly Mendez also joined Lexington this week. Mendez arrives to the Super League from ŽFK Mašinac PZP Niš, a club in the top flight of Serbian professional women’s soccer. In the United States, Mendez competed in collegiate soccer for the Cal State Los Angeles Golden Eagles making 65 appearances from 2016-19.
Lexington also signed Illinois native Alyssa Frazier this week. Frazier played multiple seasons with the Samford Bulldogs from 2018-21, scoring 17 goals and notching 26 assists. The midfielder is coming to the Super League with professional experience in Czechia, Poland and Sweden.
The last player announced for Lexington this week was Natalie Higgins. The midfielder from San Clemente, California, spent her collegiate career at Oregon State University, where she started all 74 matches played. Higgins has international professional experience in Italy, Australia and most recently in Finland for Helsingin Palloseura.
Defender Delaney Lindahl is the first signee announced this week for Fort Lauderdale United FC. Lindahl previously played for Romania’s FCU Olimpia Cluj and Australia’s Preston Lions Football Club, where she made 18 appearances, played 1,601 minutes and scored four goals. The Cal State alumna earned All-Big West Second Team and All-West Region Third Team honors for her dominating defense during her junior season, tallying 1,917 minutes through 21 games.
Midfielder Anele Komani joins Fort Lauderdale after a season with Turkey’s Karadeniz Eregli. Komani has experience playing for several international clubs, including England’s Chelsea FC and Portugal’s Clube de Albergaria. Prior to Konami’s professional experience, she earned multiple titles at the University of West Alabama, including being named to the UWA Women’s Soccer Team of the Decade.
Forward Jasmine Hamid is joining Fort Lauderdale following a stint with Sweden’s BK Häcken. Hamid’s collegiate career began heating up during her sophomore season at Towson University when she started 14 of 15 games and made three goals off 38 shots. The following season, she was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Team. In her final season, she led the league with 35 shots on goal and 90 shots, tied for the league lead in goals, and helped break the program record for the most wins in a single season.
Adrienne Jordan was the last signee announced for Fort Lauderdale. The defender joins the Super League with years of experience on European teams, most recently with Germany’s Turbine Potsdam. During her collegiate career at the University of Northern Colorado, Jordan won multiple titles and was named to the Big Sky All-Conference 1st Team. In her senior season, she started all 23 games, playing a key role in the Bears’ defense.
Spokane Zephyr FC kicked off its announcements this week with Brazilian forward Thais Reiss. Most recently, Reiss played for Spanish club Villarreal FC. She made multiple appearance with Brazil’s youth national program and etched herself into program history at the University of North Florida with multiple records, including top 10 all-time for matches played. Reiss began her professional career with Orlando Pride, where she spent two seasons before playing in Spain.
Zephyr finished its announcements with the signings of two Washington natives, forward Taryn Ries, and center back Haley Thomas. The pair returns home after playing alongside each other in Germany’s top league for MSV Duisburg. Ries, a University of Portland alumna, is a two-time Washington 2A State Player of the Year and was nationally ranked seventh in goals during her sophomore season. She began her professional career with Sweden’s IK Uppsala before joining Duisburg at the beginning of this year.
Thomas played for four years at Weber State and continued her soccer career at Boston College during her graduate studies. During her time at Weber State, she was named Big Sky Co-Defensive MVP and led the team in minutes played through her last three seasons. She began her professional career with Icelandic football club Íþróttabandalag Vestmannaeyja, where she spent two seasons before joining MSV Duisburg in January 2024.
Brooke Hendrix was announced as another signing of Tampa Bay Sun FC this week. The former captain of Reading Women FC returns to the United States with international experience playing for Glasgow Rangers in Scotland, Fylkir in Iceland, Brescia Calcio Femminile in Italy, West Ham United in England, and Melbourne Victory in Australia. The defender previously played for Washington Spirit and Racing Louisville in the U.S.
Forward Rachel McCarthy signed for Dallas Trinity FC, the club announced this week. While playing for Brigham Young University in her collegiate soccer career, McCarthy made 59 appearances, recording 14 goals and 14 assists in three seasons from 2019-21. McCarthy played in the USL W League during its inaugural season with Indy Eleven, where she scored the first ever goal in W League history.
Texas native Gracie Brian is returning to her hometown to join Dallas Trinity. The midfielder spent five seasons at TCU where she started in all 101 matches played while scoring 35 goals and adding 28 assists. Brian most recently attended preseason training camp with San Diego Wave FC.
Carolina Ascent FC welcomed its first signing this week with midfielder Giovanna DeMarco. In January 2023, she signed her first professional contract with the San Diego Wave, where she won the 2023 NWSL Shield. DeMarco spent five years at Wake Forest University, tallying 11 goals and seven assists in 75 appearances.
Carolina Ascent also welcomed 14-year-old Stella Spitzer to its roster this week. Spitzer, who made waves playing with Sioux Falls City FC in the WPSL this season, brings a formidable track record, earning starts alongside seasoned college soccer players. Her performances have led to invitations to the U.S. U14 Identification Camp and the U.S. U-14 Youth National Team training camp in 2024. She has also been named to the 2024 Olympic Development Program (ODP) National Team.
