Tampa Bay Sun defender Brooke Hendrix kicked off the inaugural USL Super League season by scoring the first goal in Sun franchise history. While it was her lone goal of the regular season, Hendrix excelled at her main objective, preventing goals. She led the Super League with 163 clearances. Hendrix was once uncertain if she would play professionally, finishing her collegiate career at Southern Miss and planning on a career in prosthetics and orthotics. Her coach encouraged her to tryout for a team in Amsterdam but after travelling overseas, Hendrix was turned down for a spot on not one, but two teams. Facing uncertainty, Hendrix dedicated herself even more, winning a spot in Scotland, beginning a career that has spanned nearly a decade and has seen her play in countries such as Iceland, Switzerland, Australia, and England, where she played in the 2019 FA Cup Final for West Ham United.
